KEVIN KLOOSTERMAN is an active devout Mormon and has been a mental health professional for over 15 years. Kevin is the first known sitting Mormon bishop to come out publicly as a LGBT ally. His LGBT ally “coming out” speech in November 2011 at the inaugural Circling The Wagons Conference in Salt Lake City received national media attention. Since being honorably released as a bishop in March of 2012 he organized the first Illinois Mormon Allies contingent supporting marriage equality for the 2012 Chicago Pride Parade, has had an article about coming out as an ally in The Advocate, as well as other LGBT advocacy articles in The Peacewriter and Feminist Mormon Housewives blogs. He now is one of the hosts of Gay Mormon Stories podcast and is working to make Illinois the 13th Marriage Equality state in the nation.
